Why do we need Ram Mandir !!

PS: I WROTE THIS IN MAY 2009 BUT MISSED TO PUBLISH

Since my childhood I have been taught by elders that Bhagwan (God) is there in every particle of the earth. Gradually I started knowing the importance of worship places like Mandir etc and eventually I realized the power of pilgrimage in our country. Now, the question is who is Ram why there is so much debate for this when we have so many temples in each and every city, villages many of them focus specially for Lord Ram.

So, is it all for the politics or a common Indian really wants a Ram Mandir should be there on his own birth place?. Well, as common NORTH Indian I emphasized on north because. What ever has been said by Mr.Karunanidhi for Sri Ram there at down south would surely not be accepted in North India.  So, one thing is sure that Ram is not here only for votes because Karnuanidhi has thousands of followers there even after this statement. (That Lord Ram was not a civil engg. Student.who can built Ram Sethu).

Now, lets focus on Ram Mandir and what are the obstacles here. When we compare Lord Ram with Babar although this would not be so correct to compare still we have stick on some formula in order to get the win-win situation for both the communities. As far as Sri Ram is concerned North Indian 100% believes on philosophy of Ramcharitra manas. (Ramanaya) Being an ancient spiritual literature we can say birth place of Sri Ram is Ayodhya.  This has been proved by our modern history that so many hindu temples were destroyed by muslim invaders one example can be found at Mathura also (Lord Sri Krishna janambhumi).

Well, I don’t have any issue with those invaders now. That was a past I have concerned with my muslims brothers and sister which is present. Why they are not coming by their own to offer hindus to build a marvelous architecture for Lord Ram. Ram in India is not only for hindus. Just go and visit any village you can find people greeting each other by saying ram-ram. Which includes muslims too. We carry this Ram word till the end of our lives. During our last journey peoples says ram naam staya hai (Ram is the single truth)

Every time our leaders stress so much on minorities rights their issues and problems. Many of them addressed too. What about the issues and concerns of majority. Hindus in India constitute around 82% of population.

Can’t we simply follow our heart and take this call to built a Temple which shows our unity, harmony.

In transit

Recently while traveling back from Philippines. I had a halt at Singapore airport for four hours. I must say what a magnificent airport. It has wonderful sky train connectivity between it's terminals. Miniature zoo and free massage chairs.
On top of that this Airport gives free Wi-Fi that too with fantastic speed that I was able to connect my servers via VPN and did some urgent work from there.

I had to catch my connecting flight from terminal 3 after spent around 2 hours in net surfing, food court etc. I suddenly found place is very quite and very few "in transit" passengers were waiting for their connecting flights.

While sitting at a corner I was thinking this is exactly what we were doing throughout our lives. Just waiting for our turn to catch the "Connecting" flight ??

Our birth, studies, marriage, kids, job, retirement etc. are just different ways to spend our "In-Transit" period and eventually we all have to wait for our call for onboarding....

BCP - Keep your family afloat !

For my corporate friends BCP - Business Continuity Planning is quite common term. People working even in junior - mid management knows why BCP is essential and knows how to keep the business afloat in case of any misshapen.

Those who actually dosen't know what BCP means here is the official definition

"BCP is the preparation and testing of measures that protect business operations and also provide the means for the recovery of technologies in the event of any loss, damage or failure of facilities"

Basically it’s the strategy to keep your business afloat..
Your company is doing good for their business.. what about your family.. ??

Have you guys ever thought of implementation of BCP with your family ?

So, here is the quick checklist..
  • Are your dependents secure enough without you ?
  • Do your family knows your investment details ?
  • Do you have nominee in your PPF account ?
  • Do all your loans are insured ?
  • Annual full body check up ?
  • Retirement ?
If you answered a single NO then my friend WAKE UP!

If you guys are reading my blog then I assume you seems to be quite intelligent ;-). So, I don't want to teach you guys to where to invest or not. But I think we can manage below tasks easily.
  • Organize All Your Important Financial and Personal Documents So They Are Easy to Access
  • Keep Documents in Fire-Proof Safe or Safe-Deposit Box
  • Develop List of Key Financial, Legal Contacts
  • Make Sure your wife knows all the Passwords to Access Financial Information
Emotional appeal :-)

Being a Hindu (proud hindu). I do believe in rebirth and remind you that's not possible until you attain mokhsa and that is possible only for peaceful soul.

I hope I've made my point..

Stay Healthy..

Why do we need both Ambani and Kejriwal??

Couple of days back I was listening Mahonar Parikar, Goa CM. He raised very genuine question about Mr. Kejriwal that why didn’t he raised Ambani issue for last 10 years though he was RTI activist in fact he was quite instrumental in drafting the act. Might be that time due to proximity with congress leadership he didn't able to :-). Anyway, the bigger question in my mind is that why do we really need Ambani or in abstract terms privatisation of this level.

Remember the era pre-1991. Almost everything was in government’s control be it manufacturing, banking, aviation, telecommunication even milk production. I still remember queuing up in morning in front of DMS (Delhi Milk Scheme) store. Our leadership of that time was quite sure to follow Russia. We should thank to Narsimha Rao for bringing MMS (Manmohan Singh’s) policies for promoting privatisation and we should equally thank to Mr. Vajpayee for spinning the wheel much faster pace in coming years.

Now, what went wrong in two tenures to UPA?  This time MMS was on driving seat (at least on paper). Actually NOTHING went wrong. India has grown leaps and bounds during last decade. Mr. Modi has tapped the same policies and delivered so called Gujarat Model. I pity on congress despite knowing everything they have to discourage Gujarat due to obvious reasons.

Well the question was how come Ambani become so prominent in these years? Behind all these liberalisation, policies etc. only driving force is profitability. Privatisation was the need of hour in 1990s had this not been happen I would have still waiting for Bajaj Super scooter or queuing for MTNL land line connection. Don’t expect any private player show interest without eying profit. So, as the person who represents the government :-).

Irony is that there is no unit or scale of profit. This could be from thousands to crore thousands. Here comes the Kejriwal in picture (or read as Ashok Khemka, G. R. Khairnar) many others brave hearts. Without even validating the fact I’m 100% sure that he right with his facts handy either its about Jijaji (Vadra) or Ambani.

By knowing all these mathematics why don’t we have accountable government  till date. Answer is Our country is not ready yet.. we need another 50 years at least or until we become “SECULAR”

Though.. Vishal Bharadwaj has preached us the concept in Maqbool why do we need both Ambani and Kejriwal.. “Aag ke liye paani ka dar bane rehna chahiye..”

P.S. Here Ambani and Kejriwal used as metaphor they could be any in their respective role..

Reserve me please - II

In this season of making movie sequels I too wanted to jump in same pool to write a sequel of one of my previous blog. Last year I wrote a blog about caste reservation http://tinyurl.com/3rt899c. Though till that time I was thinking that to get in govt. jobs people do want to get into the elite SC / ST / OBC status. But recent news about making fake caste certificates to get admission in a DU college made me wrong.

I feel pity about these bright commerce students (science students have thousands of shops now to get BE / BTech) who are seeking admissions just to do B.Com or Eco (H). Most students who made fake caste certificate have secured more than 85%. Though their parents know this fact that just getting admission in any prestigious DU college is not the license for good career. Still they want to gamble.

I feel more ashamed when I see the reaction from our very talented education minister or from University authorities that they will bar these students to pursue their studies further.

I’m still looking for the definition of “Dalit”. There are scores of students whose parents have enjoyed the benefits of SC / ST certificates. Many of then wards of IAS / IPS officers. What exactly can be done now to remove the SC / ST tag. I’m sure for one thing needy people are still struggling to get the primary education doesn’t matter which class they belong.

Our loksabha speaker Meira Kumar 5th time MP. Former IFS officer, served in many high commissions. Despite all this she is Dalit. Examples like this are endless.

I really don’t know from which calculation I belong to upper caste.

Anyway, this is an endless discussion to talk about reservation. This is for sure no political party ever wanted to finish this practice and start giving reservation on the basis of financial status.

But at least they can correct these insane criteria of 100% cut-off system in our colleges.

I’ve few alternatives..

1. Start entrance exam like IIT for commerce students too get admission for so called Best of Best course B.Com (H).

2. Just transfer the faculties from these “prestigious” colleges to other colleges and keep moving after some time-period. So, the myth of prestigious college removed and we can have new myth prestigious university.

3. Avoid events like Commonwealth and build new colleges across country.

4. If any of above doesn’t work the please open shops for regular college courses too. Like we have for Engineering (India produces more engg. Than potatos). Thanks to mushroomed Pvt. Engg colleges and our education ministers.

Considering my academic record I’ll make sure that my son should pursue in sports (read as cricket only) if he manage to play one IPL season.. will be good enough for whole life.. :-)

What’s next

First thing first. We are once again world champ … Kapil Paaji might have tired holding the “original” world cup trophy for last 28 years.

I always prefer to write on only those issues which are missed by our 24 x 7 media or social causes where a counter view is required. For the last 4-5 months any of these condition didn’t met. Hence you guys must be missing me :-). As all of the major landmarks of our UPA part II are well covered by media. Top of my head I’ve few Commonwealth Scam, Adarsh Scam, 2G Scam and recently we have witnessed agitation by Gandhi of our generation Anna Hazare.

You people might be thinking what made me to write about this. As this well covered by Media, Facebook, Twitter etc. didn’t check on orkut. I hope its not there. :-)

I understand that a tough law is required to curb corruption and this is the need of the hour. But frankly speaking I don’t understand where exactly common man or ‘Aam Aadmi’ (whose hand is with congress) is going to use this?

Following are the services where we generally (read as always) give bribe and already accepted that this is the part of our system.

  1. Driving License
  2. International Driving License (Plz note different rate apply for this)
  3. Passport
  4. Tatkal Passport (Plz note special rate apply for this)
  5. Marriage Certificate
  6. Donation in School
  7. Flat / Plot Registration
  8. Customs
  9. Our dear Police Constable
  10. Lodging FIR (I think this is really tough even after giving bribe)

Per my understanding above mentioned service is not going to cover under lokpal. If they are then god helps the people who are going to work under this department.

Without any doubt year 2010 belongs to the unprecedented year of corruption in Indian History. But still I think all the innocent people are with Anna Hazare by thinking their day-to-day life will be easier by availing basic services.

I don’t know about others but I feel humiliated when I have to give bribe for these basic services. Giving bribe of Rs 200 is more painful than that of 200 crore scam. As those 200 Rs pinch directly.

I personally think that giving and taking bribe is in our character now and we desperately need a lokpal for our character.

So, are we really not going to give bribe anymore... or What's next (after lokpal)??

Yours ‘PAL’,

Refugee

Here in U.S. most of the news channels covers extensively Obama’s India visit. All of them were talking about the key points e.g Defence deals, Visa Issues, Export issues, Outsourcing etc. etc. That’s fine with US Media. Lets talk about Indian media as usual they found Michelle Obama’s dance on Rang de basanti's song on their respective prime time slots.

I hardly heard a single word about Kashmir. You might be thinking from where Kashmir comes in picture and why the title is “Refugee”. I hope you know the meaning. In case you don’t, let me tell you the exact meaning from UN’s (United Nations) mouth.

A refugee is a person who (according to the formal definition in article 1A of this Convention), owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality, and is unable to or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country

Those who are not Law Graduate in simple terms this means. A person throwing out from his country whatever the reason may be. They specifically focused on “Country” but they didn’t give any definition for people who are Refugee with in their own country. Yes, refugee within country. Not sure if you see any such refugee. No? Did you ever heard about “Panun Kashmir”? This means our own Kashmir. Still scratching your head where you heard this. ? Ever heard about kashimri pandit? A rare race found in Kashmir now. The place they belonged since centuries. More or less the same way Tigers fall in rare species in India. Good thing about tigers is that we have a count that 1411 tigers are there in our jungles.

Alas, we don’t have exact census about our very own Kashmiri Pandits. Some “Red Tape” files says 7-10 lakhs. Irony is that they belong from our “special state” but they are not special. Whatever nightmare you have ever come across, is happened to them in real life. Their houses burnt in front of them. Thousands of them have been killed. They are forced to leave their belongings, inherited properties and living as “Refugees” in their own country. Hundreds of girls of these families raped in front of their parents. Not to mention how they continued their lives.

I really don’t remember a single word in parliament about them. Neither from ruling nor opposition parties have any concern. Why this problem never addressed by nation? Why this problem is not mentioned in election manifestos? Why media talks about Sania – Shoaib marriage but not about them? We know how people are enjoying in Bigg Boss House. But don’t have any idea how these kashmiries are living in tents. Many of them had huge properties which they left. They even can’t sell them on cheap rate. Thanks to Article 370. Which dosen't allow people from others parts of India to purchase land in this "Integral Part" of India.

Might be all these issues is because be they are scattered and don’t have majority in even a single municipal election constituency.

Tigers found their ambassadors in Great Amitabh Bachchan, M S Dhoni, Surya, Bhaichang Bhutia (Indian Footbal team captain. Yes, we have football team too ).

But these pandits are still looking for their ambassadors. Rather we say they are still waiting their Panun Kashmir.

Your's "Non - Kashmiri"

Reserve me please !!!

For narrow minded people what does this title means? Reserving a table in a restaurant, multiplex, disco etc. etc. and for broadminded and farsighted people this means putting themselves in reserve category. This is what we can see now a days in Delhi. This time its Jat’s turn.

I born and brought up in outer delhi (dominated by jats). I love them a lot because most of my friends come from this community. Well versed with their language, culture and economy. I specially mentioned economy because as far as I know Jats in delhi are not backward by any means. But that doesn’t mean they are not backward in U.P, Rajasthan, Haryana and other parts. Now, they are demanding OBC status. I don’t think they are wrong if someone wants to put them in OBC / SC / ST then why doesn’t govt. put them. Is this a privilege or an honor to get in reserved categories?

At the time of independence some socially backwards casts were categorized in these categories. Now, after 64 years all those are still backward and many more casts are added. What a tragedy! Every community leaders are frontrunner to get reserved category status. We are now feeling privileged to show deprived.

Every other day you can read headlines like “India got her first dalit chief justice”, “Let’s welcome first dalit president”. Last example I heard was of our Loksabha speaker Smt. Meira Kumar. I hope you all know she is the daughter of Late. Sh. Babu Jagjivan Ram, former deputy prime minister. A great visionary and leader of masses in recent history. Smt. Kumar is well educated and served in Indian Foreign Services which included high commission of Spain, U.K and Mauritius. Now can any one please explain me by which calculation she is dalit. If a daughter of Deputy PM is dalit then I think Jat’s demand are 100% legitimate.

This is high time to be a volunteer of their community to get reserved status. I would like to lead my community Kayastha. I personally feel I’m backward because I don’t see any political leader after Lal Bahadur Shastri. He was Srivastava but dropped his last name as he was against caste system. What you did sir, I lost my identity ..

Any other volunteer from other so called upper castes ?

What is the definition of Dalit ?

A caste comes under a reserved category or a person who is even not able to arrange bread for two times.

Is there any politician or leader who asks for reservation on the basis of financial condition.

If not then please give OBC status to my Jat friends and please consider my feelings of backwardness too.

Your's socially backward and deprived friend

BREAK - ing News

I hope you guys have enjoyed last five weeks to fullest in IPL. I can promise even more fun for another two more months from behalf of all these “24 x 7” news channels. Explanation needed?
Every news channel has moral responsibility to get into the root IPL scam.

They should also know who the owner of every team is. They should also track the Income tax data from all IPL teams. Their “confidential” sources should tell them the source of every penny coming and they should tell us in continuation.

Every news channel has an exclusive coverage to know which relative of whom is involved in which team. Interestingly they even know who is the dad of that mysterious girl who gets the document from IPL office and who is the “step” son-in-law of whom. Many other wonderful findings. Hats off to you !!!

One more breaking news which you people might have enjoyed in recent past. That is marriage of our one and only female tennis star Ms Sania Mirza (few others like Parul Goswami, Isha Toor, Tara Sharma If by any chance you know them) with one of greatest off spinner of our time Mr. Shoaib Malik. Now a days he is facing ban from Pakistan cricket board. Hence, utilized this time. Well, we should applause our media to know the whereabouts of his ex wife Ayesha Siddiqui (Which he denies). At last they are happily married and interviewed in most channels during prime time.

If you guys think that all these stuff is the breaking news. Then please stop reading and look for the next IT raid in IPL office or should know any pending ceremony of this couple.

If not. Then I’ll tell you what breaking news is. We have news which breaks around 200 lives in Bihar and Bengal. Which broke many families. Which destroyed more than 60,000 homes. I’m talking about the cyclone which hit eastern India and Bangladesh. It was on 14 April, 2010. I hope you know about this. How can you forget this? That day you might have watched match between Rajasthan Royals vs. Royal Challengers.
I hope you remember.. I hope !!

I don’t want to get into more geographical details to tell you the type of cyclone or reason of these winds etc.

I’m just trying to get along with this BREAK-ing news

May god give courage to affected families

Women Power

Great news

For the last couple of months women are making headlines on front page of every national newspaper and obviously on Prime Slot in every "24 x 7" News Channel.

Here are few headlines from first page.

  • Indian Air force declared our president Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil fit for fly in fighter jet.

  • Chief Minister of Delhi Mrs. Sheela Dikshit Flag off Metro from Delhi to Noida.

  • Chief Minister of U.P. Ms. Mayawati Flag off Metro from Noida to Delhi.

  • Kareena Kapoor is in news for Kurbaan.

  • Sonia Gandhi inaugurated Rajiv Gandhi Setu (Bandra Worli sea link) in Mumbai.

Many More..

Now let’s pick city page. Amazingly for years women were always in news in this part of every newspaper and obviously not in the prime hours of our "24 x 7" Media.

  • Another case of gang rape of 12 year old girl in Delhi.

  • 22 year old girl committed suicide due to frequent dowry demand.

  • Young girl found dead in mysterious condition for marrying out of cast.

  • A mother of two kids burnt alive for dowry

  • Girls from North East states are easy target for rape hunters.

  • Group of goons picked teenage girl in car.

Many More...

If I include all the incidents of eve teasing, harassment, chain snatching etc. then a minimum of 200 pages of news paper will be required on daily basis.

Incidents I mentioned are all from Delhi. You can imagine what kind of life women are living in rest of country. Be it is in public transport, footpath, school, college everywhere story is same. There is a major increase of phobia among girls.

I Wish..

May every man has a daughter..

May every man has a sister..

May every girl a has mother - in - law like her mother and vice - versa

Death penalty for rapist

I strongly feel until there's a public commitment, and action to back that commitment, any law or policy will only be words on paper.

Don't Forgot

Life on the planet is born of woman.

Heroes

Last Sunday I found one more reason to validate that Discovery channel is best. As usual on every Sunday I was making sure that every channel is working fine. In short just playing with remote. Thankfully I landed at Discovery with new series on Discover India. Narrator's first line was "This is patna" I thought it’s a sequel of Slumdog Millionaire but after describing the value of Ganga in patna's life. Narrator said, "This is the story of Super 30". Though I heard this term a year back but not recalling what exactly this is. I hope you too might have not heard about this.

It's an amazing institute probably unique in world. This institute is preparing under privileged students for one of toughest engineering entrance in world. Surely, best in India its IIT (Indian Institute of Technology).

Super 30 selects 30 students from extremely poor families. Many of them are wards of sweepers, hawkers, daily wage workers etc. Provides coaching for eight months with accommodation and food. All of this is FREE !!!

I am sure you are thinking about the success rate. This elite institute started in 2002. Here is the result.

2003 18
2004 22
2005 26
2006 28
2007 28
2008 30
2009 30

Just to remind you again result is out of 30.

Now, let’s come to the point. Who are our Heroes behind this mission.

1. Mr. Anand Kumar, Mathematician
2. Mr. Abhayanand, IPS officer. Presently ADG of Bihar police

Anand kumar who got the scholarship for Cambridge University but due to lack of money and premature death of this father couldn't make it. At that time he was a noted mathematician. He runs Ramanujan School of Mathematics to fund Super 30. By this initiative he is cloning 30 Anand kumar every year.

Mr. Abhayanad a topper himself in physics during his graduation. Additional Director General of Police. No need to say what kind of status he is living. Still, serving the society in real terms.

I salute!!!

When we say "India ka kuch nahi ho sakta" I think we better say "Hamara kuch nahi ho sakta". I think if we have any example in front of us then it’s quite easy to follow but if we don't have any example then again it’s quite easy to be an example for others.

In the process of "Being a Hero" :-)

Few Good, Funny, Interesting and a Bad thing in US

HALLO Brother (With heavy voice),

This is probably the most used greeting in downtowns of every city in US.

This Friday night I am leaving for India. I am trying to recollect every worthwhile memory to share with you in past 8 months. Hmm.. So let’s start..

Good

· Govt. services

Correct word for government job here is “Social Service”. From my personal experience I can say these guys are rocking. I would have never imagined in getting electricity connection in just 15 mins. Getting Social Security Number, Licence, Vehical registration everything is pretty easy.

In India we always say due to huge population things are getting out of control but it’s not true every time. Here, in US they too have good number but this is all because of good organization skills. Govt. Offices opens here 8:30 A:M (Driver’s License offices are exception their timings are 7 A:M – 4 P:M). There is no concept of peon here. You don’t need any “dalaal”. Though its true in every country that government infrastructure runs on tax given by common man. But very few countries realise this fact.

The best thing is every employee knows what to do and what NOT to do.

Despite all this citizens here are not happy “at all” with public offices. I used to ask the feedback among my collogues, neighbours or the person standing in line in front of me. Here are some samples.

“There is no Wi-Fi here these guys should maintain world class services”

- While in Driver’s License office.

“What a #$&@ is this just a speed of 11 MBPS”

- Comment by a US friend on Wi-Fi at Airport

“Why the hell they are not increasing the MINIMUM speed limit on Interstates (highways) it should be 55 Miles / Hr (around 88 Km/ Hr)”

- A Taxi driver shared his thought

“Why they are not allowing Gays for getting married”

- Person quoting in a rally. Can you imagine this is the most sensitive national issue here.

“Government is not providing good facilities in Slums. Children in slums don’t have swimming pool, gym, tennis court etc etc.”

- A social worker on “the O’Rielly Factor (A famous talk show on Fox news).

I am waiting for that day when we Indians also complaint in the same fashion as they do.

· Judiciary

I have never been to court in India. I hope many of you too. Because we believe in out of court settlement J at least for traffic related issues.

Here is the case

I didn’t have the number plate on my car. Legally you can apply for title with in 30 days of purchase of vehicle. You can drive by putting A/F (applied for) and carry original papers and of course you should have driving license.

Well, I always respect law and thought to utilize all 30 days. But I have been caught by a police patrolling team on 23rd day. And fortunately I didn’t have the papers at that time (Fortunately because if I’d the paper police never issued ticket to me to appear in front of court)

I tried my level best to avoid to go court. But not feeling comfortable to ask that 6.6 ft gaint police officer to settle case right there. Amazingly he was addressing me by saying “Sir”. This give me little confidence and I tried to come out of my car. But he politely said. “Sir you just sit inside and put your hands on steering” and eventually issued a ticket to appear in court.

While reading that ticket I thought he quoted wrong time. How can a court open at 8:30 A:M. But he confirmed the time and said court open and 7:30 A:M and staff take 1 hr. to get ready for public.

On D Day I went to court obviously I was on time. Amazingly every one in staff was working there like they didn’t go home last night. Inside hearing room I was among scores of people. A young lady of around 35 (Looks like Angelina Jolie) with pleasing smile came behind judge’s table said Good Morning to every one.

Then she started calling the name. Fortunately, I was the second one. She greeted my by Saying “Good Morning Sir, How you doing today” at that moment I thought to commit my mistake by not carrying document while driving. But before I utter a word She asked me whether I get rid from the tag problem I said yes, I got very next day of issuing ticket. She just dismissed the case.

I came out from court within 10 minutes. Isn’t it amazing ?

· Traffic rules

Since, I belong to New Delhi. The city having maximum no of car sales among all major cities in India and most probably maximum no. of road rage incidents as well. Atlanta, US faces the same problem of increasing number of vehicles but I haven’t heard about any road rage incident. Might be these guys feel it’s a sin to break traffic law. I have seen cars waiting to turn green signal at 2 A:M on country side road.

Blowing horn means abuse. Yes, it’s true if someone blowing horn that means you did some mistake.

Funny incidents

· License

While giving the driving test instructor failed me first time because I didn’t look for the speed limit board (hiding behind the bushes) on a small road and I didn’t stop “completely” on Stop sign. (on a road where probably I was the first one who came there)

Next week it’s my great luck I get in the queue of same instructor. But he didn’t recognize me and we moved for the same path. This time again I didn’t look for the board but I know the speed limit as soon as we passed that board he asked the same question “What’s the speed limit on this road”? I answered correctly. He asked my how come I know? I told him, that I looked that speed limit board. He happily said “No one ever has looked for that board. You are very attentive this city needs drivers like you” and during rest of test we talking about Indian culture and food J

· Calculation

I an amusement park I played a shooting game with 3 $ per shot. Aim was to drop three glasses in one shot. That’s another matter I realized later that ball inside the gun is too light to get down three heavy glasses and I didn’t make up.

I handed her 20 $ bill (here they call bill what we say note) and expected 17 $ in return. But after long verbal calculation she handed me 16 $. While asking 1 more dollar she told me it is difficult for her to calculate without calculator. She was around 14-15 years of age.

Interesting Facts

· Transportation

It’s a common saying here “Cities designed for cars rather than people”. Public transport is so pathetic and sometimes you feel that we are blessed that we have those killer Blue line buses in Delhi. Because distance is anyways going to kill you if you don’t have a car. Having a car here is some thing like we have a cycle or old bajaj scooter there. If someone is settled in his career and earning really well then he can thought for a motorcycle generally motorcycles are costlier than that of car.

If someone is doing exceptionally well in his career and find less items to spent for. Then he can look for a bike (yes bike means cycle).

If some one having a good bike (cycle) here that means people used to say to him “Lagta hai baap zyada paisa de kar gaya hai” or “Abe lottery lag gayi hai kya

· Passport and Slumdog Millionaire

Believe me there is lot of similarity between these two. Around 70% of US population don’t have passport they don’t require visa in visiting many countries. But to visit India they require visa and hence passport.

Mostly people associated with software development or having offshore development center in India are visiting India and know the other face of India as well apart from what they saw in this Oscar winner.

Common American here is so busy in day to day activity that what ever they see on TV or Movies they believe on that. Unfortunately movie became bumper hit over nightly and left ugly image here. Jai Ho song is so popular here you can listen in every next store. A sales man once telling me or rather consoling me by saying “You guys really come out of tough life.”

Bad

I missed my family and friends badly. Believe me this is the only bad experience I had in last 7 months and 18 days.

Jai Ho !!
